Note: Pressure ratings for high performance butterfly valves are generally based on the body material. Some manufacturers offer valves with a Cold Working Pressure (CWP) rating of 285 psi or 275 psi. The maximum working temperature for RPTFE/PTFE seats is typically 230°C to 260°C, well below the body’s maximum allowable temperature. With metal seats, the temperature range can be extended to -29°C ~ +425°C.

Valve Type

Double offset / Double eccentric, bi-directional sealing, zero leakage, high performance

  1. Double Offset Design Principle

The double offset design is an improvement over the single offset butterfly valve. The stem axis is offset from both the disc center and the valve body centerline (double eccentric). This design offers significant advantages:

  • Rapid disengagement – The sealing surfaces separate quickly during opening, reducing unnecessary compression and rubbing.
  • Long service life – Significantly reduces seat wear, extending seat life.
  • Low torque – Low opening/closing torque allows use of more economical actuators.
  • Bi-directional sealing – Provides tight shut-off in both directions, meeting full-rated bi-directional zero leakage requirements.
  • Fire safe design – The double offset construction combined with metal seats (e.g., Inconel 625 hardfacing) can meet API 607 fire test requirements.
  1. Actuation Options

Actuation Type

Remarks

Lever + limit stop

Only for low pressure, small sizes; not recommended for 10″ high performance butterfly valve

Worm gear operator

Standard configuration, with position indicator and mechanical stop; IPX8 optional

Electric actuator

On-off or modulating (4-20mA); direct mounting on ISO 5211 top flange

Pneumatic actuator

Double-acting or spring-return; with solenoid valve and limit switches

Gas-over-oil actuator

For emergency shut-down applications

  1. Key Features
  • Double offset design – Sealing surfaces disengage quickly during opening, minimal wear, low operating torque, long life
  • Bi-directional zero leakage – Suitable for stringent shut-off applications
  • Wafer connection – Compact construction, easy installation, lightweight
  • Blow-out proof stem – Compliant with API 609 for safety
  • Anti-static device – Provides electrical continuity between disc, stem and body
  • Field replaceable seat – Seat can be replaced without removing the stem and disc, facilitating maintenance
  • ISO 5211 top flange – Standardized actuator mounting interface for easy automation
  • Fire safe design (optional) – Compliant with API 607; retains some sealing integrity after fire exposure
