Supplementary Selection Notes (with Cooling Fins):
- When cooling fins are necessary: When medium temperature exceeds 200°C, it is recommended to consider cooling fins or an extended yoke. When temperature exceeds 400°C, an extended bonnet with cooling fins or a finned yoke is mandatory; otherwise, high temperature conducted through the stem can damage the packing and actuator electronics (e.g., positioner, motor) .
- Cooling fin effect: By increasing the exposed surface area and lengthening the heat conduction path (heat bridge interruption), cooling fins effectively reduce the temperature at the bottom of the stuffing box, keeping it within the allowable range for flexible graphite or other packing materials .
- Ultra-high temperature special treatment: If the temperature exceeds 650°C or the medium is highly corrosive, in addition to cooling fins, considerations may include water-cooled disc or refractory lining. This requires separate confirmation with the manufacturer .
